JOB DESCRIPTION

Description

Develops corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation. Interacts internally and externally with executive level management requiring negotiation of matters to influence policy-making bodies. Responsible for designing, planning, and implementing databases, including security, access, and documentation. Manages a function or unit within the technology environment. Manages multiple teams of associates and is responsible for hiring, termination, performance and resource management. Manages financial planning. Provides technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures as they relate to Actuarial Risk databases. Leads other managers in establishing plans and objectives for a functional area, division, product group. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures effective achievement of operations objectives. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules. Provides general direction to and review of managers in various areas, groups and/or operations. Erroneous decisions will have a long-term effect on the companys success. Directs and controls the activities of functional areas, divisions, product groups, service groups, etc., through managers with overall responsibility for the direction of those assigned areas. Owns the relationships with various governing bodies (i.e. - Supply Chain mgmt) Possesses or rapidly acquires in depth understanding of the business they support. Includes ownership of all data downloads from external vendors. Responsible for coordinating all data requirements, making improvements to database performance and creating/updating all actuarial baseline reports. Assists in the identification and analysis of all key drivers of loss and suggests tactical responses based on the analyses. Assists in ensuring OCC compliance requirements related to the Debt Cancellation products and State DOI compliance with Insurance products. Also responsible for fulfilling ad hoc data requests from the actuarial team and external partners. 

Qualifications


Required Skills:

CMM/Sig Sigma and Project Mgmt experience is required and certification is preferred. Computer Science degree preferred or substantially equivalent experience. Typically 10+ years of IT experience, including people management responsibility. Ability to combine multiple data sources into a comprehensive datatabase using SQL and SAS. Strong SAS programming abilities including macros. Strong Excel and Power Point technical skills. Ability to communicate observations when analyzing data. Proven ability to meet deadlines. Must be able to work independently.



Desired Skills:

Ability to communicate actuarial concepts and to influence using data. Insurance and actuarial background. Creative thinker capable of identifying new areas for improvement. Additional programming languages.
