JOB DESCRIPTION

TheLadders is seeking an experienced, self-motivated senior windows administrator who is comfortable overseeing and growing our Windows environment. Core duties include maintaining and expanding our Windows, Active Directory and Exchange 2003/2007 infrastructure, providing second and third level support to end-users and other IT team members, and implementing multiple new projects on behalf of the company.


 


The Windows Administrator will be the technical lead on key projects and for all things Windows/Exchange/VPN/3rd Level Escalations. Current projects include document, email and retention initiatives, ongoing security and audit tasks, upgrades of the Windows, E-mail and networking architectures and infrastructures, and constant improvements to existing operational and disaster recovery systems.  Another major area of responsibility is maintaining the VOIP phone system.  Future projects include migration of Exchange to a new version, along with other key systems upgrades to support our rapid growth. There is daily exposure to key business units of the company and working relationships with all aspects of the company, including senior management.  Preference will be given to candidates that have a friendly attitude, certifications, leadership experience, and are comfortable mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.


 


Responsibilities



  • Provide daily oversight for Windows server architecture, and execute on it



  • Perform the analytical, technical and administrative work in the planning, design, installation, documentation and administration of all Windows server applications and hardware



  • Serve as lead technical troubleshooter on complex server hardware and application issues



  • Interact with key business units and leaders in the company, and develop friendly working relationships across all levels of the organization



  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support to the Desktop Support Group



  • Support escalated end users as required to provide a positive customer experience, including after hours coverage



  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for the e-mail and file sharing environment, and participate in occasional weekend maintenance activities, as required



  • Support central and branch server performance and availability



  • Maintain server security architecture and access control, in cooperation with the Director of Security



  • Perform server maintenance duties (e.g. system log, backup schedules, user accounts, etc.)



  • Coordinate testing, rollout, and application of ongoing software patches/upgrades for servers and desktop. Systems



  • Coordinate and cooperate with peer and contract-consulting staff to achieve project deliverables and time lines


Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or an equivalent combination in education and work experience



  • 5+ years experience: minimum of 4+ years working experience with Microsoft Exchange 2003 (or beyond) including administration and troubleshooting in a large-scale multi-site environment; minimum of 5+ years working experience of Active Directory administration and troubleshooting; 3+ years of networking experience with administering remote access VPN/SecureID and 2+ years of VOIP experience, including troubleshooting and maintenance



  • Experience supporting mobile email devices such as Blackberry (and other, similar technologies) a must.



  • Sound working knowledge of Internet/Intranet technologies including security features, remote access technology and network infrastructure and operations



  • Proficient and familiar with MS Office Professional Suite including the ability to fluently use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint



  • Working experience supporting, maintaining and administering Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008.



  • Must have strong scripting skills and knowledge of scripting languages



  • Previous work experience with Symantec/Veritas/Bakbone and strong knowledge of backup techniques and/or disaster recovery planning



  • Must be able to deal with stress and tight schedules



  • Candidate must posses the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with clients and other IT personnel to identify and resolve technical issues



  • Microsoft certifications preferred – MCSE and up





  • Advanced working and administrative knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and software packages, including Windows Server 2003, Exchange, Active Directory, WSUS, and IIS



  • HP Servers Experience and strong knowledge of Microsoft published best practices for Windows OS, Clustering, Active Directory Architecture, Design, and Operations
