Manager, Sales Engineers and Sales Support
Purpose of Position/Position Summary:
This new position will play a key role in the growth and expansion of business services and product offerings at *Company*. This position will support the sale of *Company* High Capacity Ethernet Networks, Internet, Video, and Voice based services to mid-size and large businesses,and government, education and medical institutional customers. The individual in this role is primarily responsible for managing and developing a team of sales engineers and sales support professionals in support of the sales organization’s success as well as direct technical sales support on complex accounts.
In supporting the Enterprise Sales Engineers (ESE), this individual will ensure the ESE’s effectively coach and develop Enterprise Account Executives and provide them technical sales support throughout the sales process. This includes the design and implementation of complex data network and voice solutions for enterprise customers, and final approval/accountability for accuracy of customer solution designs. This individual will also lead the sales support effort by ensuring sales support professionals provide effective assistance in developing proposals, presentations, completing RFP responses, assuring accurate and complete contract packages in support of complex agreements, and generally supporting the success of the sales organization.
This individual will be a leading subject matter expert (SME) in all product/service offerings and driving technical sales to closure as well as the processes and details necessary to effectively implement customer solutions, and will be expected to provide feedback on key field and customer learnings back into the organization to support and improve how *Company* sells to and services our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive sales through management of an effective ESE team that provides technical sales support and coaching and development of Enterprise Account Executives in the sale of *Company* High Capacity Ethernet Networks, Internet, Video and Voice services to mid-size and large businesses and government, education and medical institutional clients. Through coaching and technical sales, the ESE team should support driving sales closure, shorten the sales cycle and ensure sales goals and objectives are achieved. This includes accountability for accurate and network solution designs that meet *Company* standards.
- Contribute to sales success by managing the sales support personnel and assuring sales support professionals provide effective assistance in developing proposals, presentations, completing RFP responses, assuring accurate and complete contract packages in support of complex agreements, providing any sales order management support required, and generally supporting the success of the sales organization.
- Collaborate with engineering and construction leadership teams to facilitate an effective working relationship in support of designing and delivering customer solutions within the region and collaborate with corporate Enterprise teams to assure knowledge on processes, best practices, and technology are current.
- Participate in Customer technical selling situations and preparation and delivery of customer presentations in support of coaching and development of Enterprise Account Executives and Enterprise Sales Engineers and in support of closing complex sales.
Minimum Qualifications for Hire:
Work Experience
- 5+ years in technical sales engineering/support role in the telecommunications industry (Ideally with ISP, CLEC, ILEC, VAR, or MSO), including minimum of 3 years in position working directly with customers
- Adept in developing and delivering technical presentations
- Preferred experience with following:
- Network Design
- MAN technologies & designs including DS-x, OC-x, WDM, and Ethernet
- Internet Technologies, Functionality & Services
- Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery concepts
- Networking Protocols (with an emphasis on Layers 1,2, & 3)
- CPE (voice & data)
- Voice Network Technologies (including VoIP)
- Data Networking Technologies, Functionality & Services (LAN, MAN, WAN, VPN)
- Must have developed and/or delivered technical training programs
Skills/Competencies Required
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communicator with ability to explain technical concepts in simple and understandable terms to a layperson

Education (degree)
B.S. Degree in related field; computer science or engineering preferred.
