Description:
Senior Engineer with strong background in software development and architecture in a large distributed development environment. Provide direct consultant support to the Federal Aviation Administrations (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO) in the identification, tracking, analysis, planning, coordination and development of systems engineering issues, risks, and system automation/modernization planning. The candidate will support the management oversight of the design, development, and integration of new and existing software to support FAA System development activities. Candidate must have experience in data engineering, data architecture, and data modeling in support of the transformation of legacy systems to a web-enabled, data centric enterprise architecture including Concept of Operations development. Familiarity with software verification procedures and processes is highly desired. Candidate must have familiarity with XML. Candidate must have experience with prototyping, modeling and simulation development. Candidate must have a depth of knowledge in software architecture (Non-Real Time and Real Time). Candidate must have experience with the total life cycle of software development. Candidate must have Project management experience leading teams of individuals with varying levels of experience and capability. Familiarity with structured development processes is required. Familiarity with ISO 9001/14000 standards and the application to software development processes (desired). Significant tasks include: software development oversight support, requirements definition and analysis, program planning; task estimation and resource management; team leadership; systems analyses; planning and executing test and evaluation events; working with user teams during requirements and SOW development; and working as part of an interdisciplinary team representing systems engineering while balancing program schedule and resource constraints. Candidate must be a self-starter, team player, be flexible, and possess the ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to a fast-paced work environment. Candidate must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be proficient with Microsoft Office products. FAA or Aviation experience is preferred but not required. Candidate must possess a technical/engineering degree (Computer Science preferred) and at least fifteen years or a Masters degree and at least 8 years of progressively responsible work experience that would enable success. Previous experiences in a multitude of work environments including delivery of products on a prime contract, performance in a high energy consulting environment, and experience in a systems engineering technical assistance contract environment desired. The candidate should also be comfortable mentoring Junior Engineers. Security Clearance Required.
