Director, Clinical Applications

SUMMARY:  The Director, Clinical Applications serves as an integral player in the multi-year implementation and ongoing preservation of Epic Systems.  Epic serves as Lancaster General’s enterprise-wide Information Technology (IT) system and upon full implementation will result in a centralized Electronic Medical Record (EMR) across all care settings for the patients we serve.  The Director, Clinical Applications will direct, lead and manage the development and implementation of this high-profile information system transformation project that will have a strategic impact on the core operations and processes of the organization for both the inpatient and outpatient environments.

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or Engineering; or a Science degree with an orientation toward automation and process improvement; or approved equivalent combination of education and experience is required.






• Seven – ten years of relevant IT experience required.






• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is required. Requires excellent analytical, consultative, problem solving and communication skills.

 ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: 

• Understanding of the healthcare applications suite and their place in the acute care, physician, ambulatory and ancillary settings.






• Ability to solve highly complex technical, organizational, operational and people problems.






• Technical knowledge should include experience with integration/interfacing and significant conversions.






• Programming logic skills and the proven ability to maintain and understand complex applications.






• Significant experience in system problem solving and solution analysis, vendor management, system implementation including all aspects of system testing in a healthcare environment.






• Minimum of four (4) years working in a healthcare setting.






• A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.

PREFERRED JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:   Documented success in leading the implementation of a complex integrated Hospital Information System . Experience or familiarity with Epic Application Suite.
