Vice President of Development

99089     We are looking for a Vice President of Development for a very stable investment firm in the Boston area! You should have experience working for a mid sized asset management or hedge fund.

You must have experience building and integrating very complex trading applications.  You should have at least 10 years of experience working in investment / trading environments, and 15 years of overall IT experience.  You will manage both application development and integrations teams.

You must have experience with trading applications, fixed income, and derivative applications.  You should also have an MBA.

You will be responsible for managing a team of 25-30, and should have managed large teams in the past.  You also need experience with both Java and .NET.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure staff is both continuously monitoring, enhancing and fixing applications to avoid interruption in service to internal customers.


• Ensure that all business units receive timely, efficient and courteous service when addressing application development, integration and maintenance problems and / or requests.


• Develop, integrate, update and support software that meet or exceed internal customers expectations on time and on budget.


• Partner with senior managers / internal business customers to identify, gather, and understand their goals and to formulate strategies to support them, while prioritizing requests and staying within deadlines.


• Establish common ground among competing internal business unit requirements.


• Improve the security of the company’s applications consistent with senior management’s directive to minimize unauthorized use and any potential damage to the business.


• Work collaboratively with team to create and share technology vision on an ongoing basis.


• Research, evaluate, recommend, implement, and support application development, maintenance and data tools, and processes that improve the efficiency and quality of the organization’s operations.


• Manage responsibilities pertaining to business continuity preparedness, documentation, Disaster Recovery site visits, etc.

Qualifications and Expectations:

• B.S. in Computer Science / related field required (Master’s Degree desirable).


• Minimum of 10 years of relevant IT experience within the financial / investment institutions.


• Strong system design skills.


• Database design and modeling skills.


• Excellent experience in developing web applications.


• Very good experience in Java, C++, C#, and .Net.


• Experience in / knowledge of Bloomberg, Reuters.


• Very good understanding of financial markets and instruments.


• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate confidently with all levels of management.


• Strong managerial and leadership skills.


• Superior analytical skills.
