Job Description:34280 - INFRASTRUCTURE SPECIALIST - SENIOR: UNDER MINIMAL DIRECTION, FUNCTIONS IN MULTIPLE ADVANCED SPECIALTY DISCIPLINES SUCH AS SYSTEMS INFRASTRUCTURE, ASSEMBLY/INTEGRATION, CROSS-DISCIPLINE FUNCTIONS, DATA ENGINEERING, INDUSTRY EXPERTISE, KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING OR LEGACY EVOLUTION. LEADS AND COORDINATES THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT AND OPTIMIZATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEMS THAT ENABLE AND SUPPORT BUSINESS AND/OR ENGINEERING/MANUFACTURING FUNCTIONS. DEFINES PROJECT SCOPE, PLANS AND DELIVERABLES INCLUDING COST PROJECTIONS AND PROPOSED IMPLEMENTATION DATES. ASSISTS LEADERSHIP IN DETERMINING TECHNICAL DIRECTION OF THE ORGANIZATION. RESEARCHES, ANALYZES, RECOMMENDS AND IMPLEMENTS NEW TECHNOLOGIES, STANDARDS, PROCESSES, TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES. CREATES SYSTEMS INFRASTRUCTURE PORTIONS OF INFORMATION/TECHNOLOGY PLANS BASED ON AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE CUSTOMERS ORGANIZATIONAL STRATEGIC DIRECTION, TECHNICAL CONTEXT AND BUSINESS NEEDS. CONCEPTUALIZES, CONSTRUCTS, TESTS AND IMPLEMENTS INTEGRATED NETWORK, HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS, DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING SOLUTIONS, AND/OR PHYSICAL AND LOGICAL COMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS FOR THE CUSTOMER AND EDS ARCHITECTS CLIENT/SERVER SOLUTIONS AND ENVIRONMENTS. COACHES AND PROVIDES TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP TO OTHERS ON NETWORK DESIGNS, PLATFORM SIZING, INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEM DESIGN AND THE APPLICATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT METHODOLOGIES. PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR MARKETING INITIATIVES THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN PROPOSALS AND MARKETING STUDIES. REVIEWS OTHER INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEM DESIGNS TO SELECT APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY, ENSURE EFFICIENT USE OF RESOURCES AND ENSURE INTEGRATION OF MULTIPLE SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGIES. IDENTIFIES, DEVELOPS, UPDATES AND ENFORCES STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES. MONITORS AND ENSURES RESOLUTION OF PERFORMANCE ISSUES. INTERFACES WITH OTHERS ON SYSTEM INFRASTRUCTURE PROBLEMS, TECHNICAL CONCERNS, AND FINANCIAL ISSUES. RESEARCHES, EVALUATES AND STAYS CURRENT ON EMERGING TOOLS, TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGIES. Position Prerequisites:
* Meets education requirements or has equivalent work experience
* Holds current Security+, CISSP, CISA, or other DOD 8570 IAT Level I certification or commits to obtaining certification within 90 days.
* Top Secret Clearance with SSBI or Interim Top Secret with single scope background investigation.
* Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
* Demonstrates technical skill in multiple disciplines.
* Years of Experience Needed: 8 years general information technology experience with ideally 5 years of Information Assurance experience. Position Overview: This position provides senior level leadership, technical experience, and expertise to our client DISA Field Security Operations in performing Security Readiness Reviews (SRRs) for information technologies such as operating systems (Windows, Unix), network components (routers, firewalls, switches), database components (MS-SQL, Oracle), web servers (ISS, Tomcat, Apache), and application components (.NET, JAVA). The candidate will be part of an approximately 80 person team responsible for analyzing and documenting security vulnerabilities related to components that comprise the network infrastructure for DoD locations. These locations range from user locations attached to the network to server farms providing services DOD wide, and can be anywhere in the world. The candidate will be required to provide senior technical experience and expertise in performing security risk analysis in support of certification and accreditation of major programs, products and services. In this position the responsibilities include providing expert security vulnerability analysis, guidance, recommendations, deficiency resolution support and packaging of the certification recommendation for network environments as well as operating system environments. The candidate must be a motivated self-starter, possess excellent communications skills, be flexible to change in a dynamically changing environment, work as a team player, and be able to perform periodically under minimal direction. Members of this team are based out of EDS Herndon office and Letterkenny Army Depot Chambersburg, PA. The candidate must have minimally a Interim DoD Top Secret clearance with a single scope background investigation. Various opportunities are available on the team depending on subject matter expertise of the candidate. Essential Functions:
* Ability to analyze and interpret results from the SRRs to provide a concise in-depth risk assessment.
* Ability to lead a team of 5 - 6 reviewers during an SRR.
* Ability to conduct training for personnel.
* Ability to evaluate security controls in multiple disciplines
* Ability to communicate in written or verbal form with the customer in support of technical and/or administrative/policy security guidance and direction.
