The Advisory Board Company (NASDAQ: ABCO), a professional and technology services firm serving 2,700 of the country’s preeminent hospitals and healthcare systems, is rapidly expanding its portfolio of technology solutions to provide hospitals with clearer insight into their financial, operational and clinical businesses. Through Advisory Board Compass Solutions, we aim to empower hospitals to achieve business performance goals through faster, data-driven decision-making. We currently offer tools covering a variety of content areas including revenue cycle management, surgery, supply chain management, nursing, quality, and physician performance.
Our current opportunity is on our Austin, Texas-based Crimson team. The Crimson Initiative, founded in 2003 and acquired by the Advisory Board Company in May 2008, is the firm’s fastest growing Business Intelligence membership program. The team is in the process of bringing a new product to market which has potential to revolutionize the way that hospitals interact with community physicians. Designed to work with a hospital’s existing data, the software automatically creates visually compelling profiles for community physicians. Over the past year, the membership in Crimson’s core program has grown to more than 300%, and the same rate of growth is expected in the new line of business.
The Senior Consultant, Implementation Services will be responsible for creating the processes around the deployment of the new product. Additionally, they will be tasked with hiring and managing the team through the anticipated growth.
The Senior Consultant will have the following responsibilities:
• Work with clients to identify data requirements for integration with our system
• Implementation of ETL processes from client systems to our application
• Design new and improve existing deployment and support processes
• Perform ROI analysis on accounts and present results to C-level executives
• Work with sales to identify potential follow on revenue in existing accounts
• Coordinate design and implementation of new product features with product management and development
• Effectively and consistently using standard templates for communications with developers
• Managing and prioritizing business analysts’ requests with developers and members
• Troubleshooting technical and non-technical challenges
• Providing ongoing technical and business support, including further customizations to the toolset itself
• Resource management – ensuring that the BA team is adequately trained and performing at the required level.
• Provide constructive formal and informal feedback to team members as necessary
• Set team goals and define roles clearly through workload management and delegation
• Include staff in decision-making process and empower staff to make decisions independently
• Contribute to career pathing, work force planning and talent identification
The successful Senior Consultant will have the following skills and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, EE, Computer Engineering, or other technical discipline
• 5+ years of professional experience in client facing roles (software implementation consulting experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or DB/2
• Object oriented programming experience and knowledge of either Java or C#
• Experience working with deployed .Net applications a plus
• Knowledge of HIPAA or experience in the healthcare industry a plus
• Familiarity with statistics and statistical methods
• Detailed oriented, with a focus on customer success
• High technical aptitude
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Leadership experience with teams with at least 5 members
• Ability to manage client relationships and negotiate changes to commitments/requirements
• Relationship-building skills and experience managing the most challenging client relationships
This position will be based in Austin, TX. While the majority of the work is completed at the Advisory Board’s office, candidates should expect to spend some time (approximately 10-20%) traveling to member sites across the country.
