VP of Business Intelligence for Travelers Insurance - Hartford, CT
We are seeking a senior executive to work directly with the senior IT team to drive the evolution of its business intelligence group. This individual will lead, manage and develop a Business Intelligence team and will drive the strategic vision to leverage data, information and tools/applications for optimal business processing and critical decision making.
This role will be part of the Business Intelligence senior team while being accountable for leading, managing, mentoring, and developing the teams responsible for creating an information advantage for the organization with a focus on information delivery, data management, and product/application support.
This person will develop an annual strategic Business Intelligence plan, including business initiatives, analytic tools, and technical investments. Working closely with key partners like MI, Product and Finance, this person will be accountable not only for thought leadership but also for the delivery of information and analytic tools/applications to our business customers.
Additional Key Accountabilities to include:
* Develop and maintain a culture by which information is integral to decision making
* Establish standards for technology and business processes within the organization
* Drive development and maintenance of business intelligence best practices
* Manage the data management and governance procedures
* Serve as the overall liaison with business sponsors and executives
* Create and maintain a proactive communications culture
* Facilitate the prioritization of projects and requirements among competing business interests
* Identify, communicate and mitigate project risks to stakeholders, and ensure teams have appropriate support to meet goals
* Align data warehousing, database, and other information technology projects with overall business strategy
* Secure and maintains funding for key initiatives
* Measure return on investment
Experience and Requirements
*10+ years of progressive responsibilities in a business intelligence environment
*10+ years of demonstrated leadership in complex/matrixed environments
*Deep understanding and appreciation for both business and technology components of information strategy
*Financial services, banking or insurance industry experience strongly desired
*Experience in managing multiple, complex, corporate wide projects
*Demonstrated strong decision making- strategic and critical thinking ability
*Concise and persuasive oral and written communication skills
*Solid analytical, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple critical projects
*Experience in developing working relationships with top business and technical stakeholders
