The Network Engineer plays a leadership role in the Network Operations group, managing projects and mentoring junior level technical staff and technical support staff. The Network Engineer will be the lead engineer on implementation projects in the company’s growing set of technologies. Working with the Manager of Network Operations they will ensures a high level of network availability and customer service to the staff.
• Proficient experience in the design, implementation and management of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances, routers, switches, wan acceleration, wireless control systems, Cisco Call Manager, Call Manager Express, Unity, and Unity Express
• Maintaining & supporting network services ensuring high levels of availability and customer service
• Responsible for new office openings with respect to the specifications put forth by the network manager. The standard equipment lists, policies and physical setup of the networking equipment
• Performing patch management on network devices in accordance with the maintenance plan put for by the network manager
• Developing improved methodologies for providing network support
• Researching new technologies for applicability to the company’s network environment
• Developing, testing and maintaining disaster recovery procedures
• Preparing quotations for network purchases
• Providing off hours support as required
• Performing daily log reviews
Experience and Competencies
• 8+ years experience in an enterprise-level network engineering or design role
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent troubleshooting and demonstrated critical thinking skills
• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
• Operational experience with Cisco enterprise class routers, switches, and firewalls
• Operational experience with Cisco Unified Communications Suite including Call Manager, Call Manager Express, Unity, Unity Express & IPCC
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSec, HSRP, and SNMP protocols
• Knowledge of VoIP, SCCP, SIP, H323, G711, G721, G726, and G729 protocols
• Knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, ODR, and OSPF
• Knowledge of VLANs, subnetting, routing, switching and traffic shaping
• Knowledge of the OSI model
• Knowledge of linux operating system a plus, but not required
Academic Qualifications
• BS degree in Computer Science or related field and or equivalent work experience
• CCNA certification or higher
