Senior Performance Systems Engineer

This senior level position will concentrate on scalability, performance and stability solutions with forward looking trending and analysis required. This position will work cross functionally within the organization to plan and recommend cost effective solutions for the hosting environment to ensure growth is projected and effectively managed, performance is tracked against growth in critical areas of the system, and stability is maintained against best practices and specific developmental and deployed practices within the organization. This position is a Senior Hosted Systems Engineer working in production, staging, and testing environments for a company with a 24x7 Hosted Application Services data center utilizing Linux, JBOSS, and Oracle platforms in high transactional and high availability environment

Essential Functions:
Performance and capacity planning. Performance and capacity testing. Scalability and stability testing, configuration and implementation.
Strong lead and team member in Linux, JVM Java technologies and applications from a systems perspective
Strong experience in Oracle and general database performance
Strong experience in systems level design and scaling of custom developed applications with proven experience working with development teams
Strong experience in systems scaling and best of breed architecture in a hosted environment including knowledge of application integration and scaling of SAN technologies including RAID levels and vendor specific advantages in different platform scenarios , network scaling preferably in a Cisco environment, server scaling with knowledge of current and emerging system and processor trends, application scaling from a systems perspective, and a proven track record on projects that produces stability and increased scalability with preference for proven cost reductions or cost savings over growth in scale out.

Position requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
7-10 years of experience systems engineering and architecture role with an emphasis on hosted solutions
Proven track record in large scale datacenter scaling specific to application scale out and performance trending and in providing designs that increase stability across platforms and technologies
Knowledge and experience in JBOSS setup, performance, and tuning
Strong experience with the following: Oracle, JBOSS, Linux, Apache and in tuning large scale environments to optimally perform using these technologies.
