JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

This position is a lead engineering role with technical hands-on in design and evolution of the Enterprise Mail platform, Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007. This position also functions as tier-3 support to Network Operations support services around the messaging environment.

This person will be pivotal in helping to migrate from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007, Windows 2003 to Exchange 2007 and an Active Directory Forrest migration

Technical Requirements
•          Nine or more years of information technology or technical architecture/design experience
•          Experience in design and/or implementation of Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 organization
•          Experience providing engineering and application support supporting Exchange 2003/2007 design and operations in global enterprise environment
•          Experience in design and implementation of a Windows Server 2003/2008 Active Directory services
•          Successful experience as an Engineering and Operations team member providing 24x7x365 mission-critical service level for Email in an global environment
•          Experience as a Level 3 or Level 4 engineer within Exchange 2003/2007 infrastructure
•          Experience administering MS Exchange2003/2007 in a MCS clustered environment
•          Demonstrated abilities to configure Windows DNS/WINS services
•          Experience with implementing best-practices for Active Directory operations
•          Preferred  In-depth knowledge of HP EVA SAN’s (Storage Area Network)
•          Familiarity with the following messaging platform enhancements (MS Office Communicator 2005/2007, Avaya Modular Messaging, BlackBerry 4.x/5.x, Symantec AV for Exchange
•          Familiarity with operational monitoring tools (i.e. Microsoft SCOM or similar)
•          Knowledge around MS SQL 2005, Double-Take and Virtualization technologies a plus
•          Knowledge of compliance tools (i.e. Autonony/Zantaz EAS, Discovery and Supervisor) or similar
•          Configuration and advanced administration of SMTP services
•          Advanced skills in Hardware/Server building and Operating Systems install and configuration
•          Experience with high-availability, disaster-readiness, redundancy and systems failover for email
•          Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve system problems especially in break/fix scenarios; provide root cause analysis when problems arise and performance reporting during non-problematic operations
•          Regimented change and release management methodology. Security and Patch updates to follow the firm’s change management procedures and a patch release schedule
•          Understanding of all parts of supporting infrastructure including networking, telephony, security, monitoring, storage and messaging preferred
•          Leads technology and product general assessments, detailed evaluations, and final selections.
•          Leads system performance diagnosis and scalability assessment activities.
•          Advanced knowledge of file management, security access control and NTFS and AD permissions

Responsibilities

Design and Engineering of Exchange and 3rd party add-in services
•          Acts as the subject matter expert for global messaging environment and serves as the system architecture authority within that scope.  Primary focus to be around Exchange and secondary focus to be on Blackberry, Modular Messaging, RightFax and Zantaz archiving and Antivirus/threatware protection.
•          Defines and designs complex technology-based business messaging solutions.  Mentors and leads project teams in the implementation of those business-focused messaging solutions.
•          Identifies and evaluates technical architecture models utilizing knowledge of industry and technical trends. Reviews and approves design decisions prior to implementation to ensure adherence to prescribed guidelines and standards
•          Advises management regarding IT vision and strategy, technology innovations and enterprise architecture services. Provides production problem diagnosis and technical, offshore strategy and processes support to project team. Implements resolution.
•          Leads system design activities or reviews system designs to assure that applications solutions will exhibit expected levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, appropriate reusability and reliability upon deployment.
•          Prepares IT vision and strategy work products, technology and product analysis, white papers, and responses to management queries on technology and product related topics.
•          Participates in system solution definition for proposal efforts, as needed, to ensure business requirements are satisfied.
•          Support ongoing evolution of the Disaster Recovery (DR) design and operations for Enterprise Messaging Services to meet changing business requirements
•          Provide leadership surrounding compliance related controls and reporting as it applies to the active messaging environment.  Deliver solutions that meet SEC requirements around Broker Dealer requirements.

Operational Support of production environment

•          Proficient with the day to day operational support of the following Microsoft products: Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007, Microsoft Cluster Services, Microsoft Windows 2003/2008, Microsoft Active Directory, DNS/WINS Services, DHCP Services and Group Policy.
•          Able to troubleshoot, optimize Exchange performance, perform Exchange database maintenance, Exchange database backups and restore, Exchange mailbox journaling, exchange queues monitoring, and recovery of a corrupted exchange information store.  
•          Have a solid understanding of all phases of a disaster recovery scenario including preparation and implementation exercises to include but not limited to Microsoft Exchange Cluster, and Microsoft Active Directory
•          Act as a final escalation point to Operations for ongoing production support issues.  Role is responsible for vendor management around all escalated issues until resolution.
•          Participates in the development and enforcement of company IT Standards, Policies and Procedures, develop and update technical documentation.
