To lead research projects in photonics with tasks in materials synthesis, characterization, device design, fabrication, and testing. Incumbent will have primary responsibility for developing materials growth processes utilizing the method of molecular beam epitaxy. Incumbent will be in charge of developing procedures for construction of nanostructures such as thin film quantum wells, quantum dots, and nanowires for advanced photonic devices. Current materials of interest include (but are not limited to) arsenide and nitride based III-V semiconductors.
