Considered an "expert" in the software engineering field. May have direct supervisory responsibilities. Requires very minimal supervision. Provides critical technical expertise to a program and to other engineers. Sets up-front technical direction on a program. Researches, develops, designs, tests, and integrates electronic equipment and systems throughout the life of a program from contract award to completion of production. Supports the engineering activities involved in their fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair.
