The Project Manager is expected to actively and effectively manage: all processes within the entire project lifecycle (initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control, close), oversee multiple concurrent projects or one larger project, depending on the size and complexity of the project(s), determine the appropriate level of rigor in applying standard methods and tools for managing a given project, and produce desired results by using appropriate techniques in all project management activities.
