Responsibilities In 1992, Eli Lilly and Company established the Delivery, Device, and Connected Solutions (DDCS) business for the purpose of creating, developing, launching and continuously improving proprietary delivery device systems. This business is unique to the broader Lilly Research Labs organization due to its focus on patient centered delivery system solutions, its innovative approach to delivery platforms utilizing both internal and external technologies, and its level of integration with the commercial groups and Business Units. This business enables almost $4.0 billion in pharmaceutical sales and is projected to double in the next 6 years.

DDCS is responsible for the development and scale-up of new devices for late stage clinical trials and commercial distribution. To maximize the opportunities associated with connected health, DDCS has created a Digital Devices team with internal and external capabilities in electronics, wireless connectivity, and software development (device, mobile app, and cloud). This team will also manage the development of innovative user experiences and be responsible for understanding and influencing emerging digital standards and regulations.

Are you a highly motivated Software Design Engineer? Do you have a passion for mobile medical apps (MMAs). Do you seek the opporortunity to work as part of a project team, in a position that includes the traditional role of design lead for connected health products? Since our products will be medical devices, this role owns elements of design controls, including risk management tools and processes. You will have the opportunity to work in an agile team having roles without boundaries operating at digital speed. You will bring core expertise and will need to teach others, but you will also build upon your strengths, learn from your teammates, and discover new skills. To accomplish this critical task, your reponsibilities might include:

  • Develop and / or lead development of apps
  • Work closely with vendors to ensure successful project completion to given specs
  • Own applicable design controls deliverables and processes for MMAs. Create design history file documentation, including deliverables that support regulatory submissions.
  • Android experiencerequired
  • Atlassian experience highly desired

  • Bachelor’s degree, Engineering or computer science degree
  • 5+ years in software development with 3+ years designing, developing, debugging, and maintaining mobile applications for iOS and/or Android platforms
  • 5+ years in software life cycle management, version control, continuous integration, and testing
  • At least three years’ experienceworking with vendors and collaborations,
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Ability to translate a product vision into requirements and actionable plans
  • Keen appreciation for and experience with robust design patterns,
  • Demonstrated capability to deliver complex programs with a multi-component architecture
  • Able to identify problems and drive issue resolution/improvements, experience with medical devices or consumer electronics,
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply appropriate medical device regulations and standards (such as 21 CFR 820.30, MDD 93/42/EEC, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and IEC 62304) to connected health products in such a way that patient safety is top priority but enables operating at digital speed,
  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work productively and influence in an interdisciplinary environment, including external vendors, interest in understanding connected health and its potential impact on our company and industry
