Job Description
The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Network Designer to join the Global IT Infrastructure group. This position will be based in Phoenix, AZ with the expectation that the selected candidate will split their time evenly between our Phoenix and Mesa facilities. 

Your primary function in this role will be as a Cable and Wire Designer supporting the Boeing Strategic Data Center in Phoenix and the Mesa office and factory sites. 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Delivery of structured cabling end-to-end in the Boeing strategic data centers and Mesa office/factory areas.
  • Perform planning, analysis, design, and construction of copper and fiber infrastructure delivery systems.
  • Oversee and provide technical guidance to contractors installing racks, trays, conduits, hot-aisle-containment, and structured cabling.
  • Organize the creation and documentation of network designs.
  • Research, develop, document and deploy emerging technologies and techniques.
  • Prepare, deploy and coordinate installation of complex implementation packages.
  • Integrating data center cable and wire activities closely with enterprise tools, processes, and procedures.


In addition to the above, the ability to communicate with each group on an appropriate technical level is critical to the successful performance of design duties and overall integrity of the communication infrastructure system and operation.

Qualifications 

Typical Education / Experience: 
Technical bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study

 

Required Qualifications:

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Industry knowledge of the latest and future cabling technologies in support of multiple network topologies.
  • Experience in data center layout and Layer-1 network design


Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

  • BICSI, RCDD certification preferred.
  • Experience building distribution systems design (All media types)
