Job Description
Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for embedded real time safety critical communication management software systems.  Develop flight software requirements from little or no upstream requirements. Work with Systems Engineering to decompose & partition system requirements to software requirements. Collaborate with others to create software requirements specifications. Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.   Ensures developed software products and process conformance to project plans and DO178C.  Software functionality includes Aircraft Data Communications, datalink, networking , routing, radio communications, flight displays  and infrastructure.   Experience developing safety critical C++ Avionics software using ARINC 653 partitioned operating system highly desired.     Experience with model-based development using Mathlab/Simulink desired.   Knowledge of airplane industry specs such as ARINC 620, ARINC 622, ACARS standards, ARINC 724B, ARINC 744A, ARINC 665, DO219, DO 258 is a plus. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience)

  • Experience writing and developing software requirements with little or no existing requirements
  • Understanding of routing, networking, data links, and /or radio communications
  • Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Experience with Model Based Engineering, preferably with Matlab
  • Experience with reqmts for Aircraft Data Communications / Networking is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of airplane industry specs such as ARINC 620, ACARS standards, ARINC 724B, ARINC 744A, ARINC 665 is a plus
  • Experience with DOORS is desirable
